No. Our students come from right across the wider Tairua, Pauanui and Hikuai areas. Any student can enrol, regardless of their address.
ARE THERE ANY SCHOOL FEES?
Tairua School asks for a voluntary donation of $40 per student per year. This supports the amount and variety of programs we are able to offer. Donations are tax deductable and a receipt is issued for all payments.

Tairua School is not serviced by any of the main school bus routes. A private operator runs a morning and afternoon service between Pauanui and the school via Hikuai. Contact Tairua Bus Company on 0204 075 0042 for more details and fares or email

Each student is provided with their own school hat which must be worn outside during Terms 1 & 4. A school polo shirt, provided by the school, is worn for off site activities. There is no cost for these items.

WHAT IF I NEED TO SEE THE CLASS TEACHER OR PRINCIPAL?
Teachers are generally available for a quick catch up after school. If you need more than 10 minutes we would advise that you make an appointment in advance. Teacher contact details are available on the Staff Page.
The principal operates an open door policy and parents and caregivers are welcome to drop in at any time. If your issue is important we recommend you call ahead to ensure the principal is free when you arrive. Just contact the office on 07 864 8590.
